Our mission is to foster financial stability through the development of affordable housing, the facilitation of asset building, and revitalization of San Francisco’s underserved neighborhoods. The four core program areas offered at SFHDC work to ensure the betterment of the community and its members. These programs include housing development, financial empowerment, supportive services, and economic development.

Housing Development

SFHDC has successfully developed nearly 400 affordable homes in San Francisco. We build ownership and rental homes that help turn distressed communities into thriving and self-sustaining neighborhoods. Our goal is to create safe, affordable, stable and attractive housing that transforms residents’ lives.

Financial Empowerment

SFHDC’s comprehensive and integrated Financial Empowerment Center is based in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood. We are a HUD-certified counseling agency that provides financial counseling and workshops to low- and moderate-income households. The clients can participate in three monthly workshops each with follow-up individual counseling.

Supportive Services

SFHDC provides the thirty families living at SFHDC’s Bayview Commons Apartments with supportive services and case-management. These services are non-mandatory, confidential and designed to meet the distinct needs of each resident. We are also beginning to provide outreach and referral services for 440 households at Hunters Point East/West and Westbrook Apartments.

Economic Development

SFHDC uses a customized, grassroots approach to achieving community revitalization. We are currently focusing our efforts on the Third Street Corridor in Bayview-Hunters Point and other parts of southeast San Francisco. We have helped to bring essential goods and services to the area, while creating employment opportunities and vibrant neighborhoods.
